Company History
Founded in 1928 as King Engineering and Contracting Ltd., William Whittaker
King built a solid, diversified construction operation whose foundation was based
on a strong work ethic and whose success was attributed to its loyal and dedicated
employees.
Today, operating as KPM Industries Ltd., the KING
group of companies has evolved dramatically to encompass a wealth of diversified
products and services for the construction industry and related markets. From King
Paving and Materials Company, to King Packaged Materials Company,
King Fabricating, King Truck Centre,
and MINEQUIP, KPM Industries
Ltd. still bears the name of its founder. Although technology
has changed so many aspects of this industry, the same work ethic and sense of company
loyalty remains a key element in the company’s success.
For over 80 years, through economic booms, recessions, depressions and changes in
corporate organization, change, in its many facets, has been catalyst to the growth
of the KING group of companies and the strengthening of
leadership in all divisions from road building & heavy construction, to merchandizing
products in Canada’s leading retailers for home renovation, to supplying industry-leading
ground support products to the world’s deepest hard-rock mines. The KING
name has not only survived, it has flourished and continues to be renowned for quality
products, integrity of its personnel and continues to be recognized in the industry
as a great place to work.
